Often used for the installation of tieback anchors, the rotary percussion method is preferred by many contractors since it allows the outer casing and the inner drill string to be advanced simultaneously. Grouting is carried out while retracting the drill casing from the hole.
The rotary percussion method is often used for the drilling of micro-piles and soil nailing. DTH hammers are also used for these particular applications.
